Budget and bidding

Every dollar with a job to do

Budget optimisation is usually sold as software that moves money around overnight. Most of the gain comes earlier than that: knowing how much you can afford to spend, where it should go, and when to stop. We work that out with you, then manage it every week.

Start with what you can afford

The right ad budget starts from your margin, not from the platform. If a sale costs more in ads than the product earns after costs, the first order loses money. That may still be fine if customers come back, but you need to know that before you scale.

So we begin with three numbers: gross margin, average order value, and how often customers buy again. From those, we set a break-even cost per new customer and a target with room to spare. Every campaign and channel then gets a budget that fits inside it.

Our co-founder's track record shows the idea in practice: as an Australian activewear retailer's monthly revenue grew from $1M to $2.1M, ad spend sat at about 6% of revenue. That is the founder's track record, not a TDC client result.

What we manage week to week

Channel split

How much goes to Meta, TikTok, Google and Microsoft, reviewed against blended results each week.

Campaign budgets

Campaign or ad set budgets set so each one can exit learning without wasting spend.

Bid strategies

Highest volume, cost caps, bid caps or target ROAS, picked per campaign using each platform's own options.

Scaling rules

Winners scaled in steady steps so the algorithm does not reset; losers paused early.

Seasonal plans

Spend raised ahead of big sale periods and eased back after, so you are not learning during the peak.

Creative supply

Budget only scales as far as creative allows, so we plan new ads alongside every increase.

Questions, answered.

Do you use automated rules?

Sometimes, using the platforms' own automated rules, for simple safety checks like pausing an ad that spends with no sales. The decisions that matter are made by a person.

How fast can you scale a winning campaign?

It depends on the platform and the size of the account. We prefer steady steps over big jumps, so results hold.
